—Popular event to
be held April 10 in
Woburn, MA –
Monday, February 28, 2005 — GBFA, a
nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the greater Boston flute
community, today announced that it will hold its 2005 Solo & Ensemble Day event at the All Newton Music School, 321
Chestnut Avenue, Newton, MA on April 10th from 10 AM to 4 PM. (Those
interested in this event are asked to please not call the school, but to
contact GBFA for information. See contact information below.)
“This is one of our most popular events,” said
Elizabeth Watson, the organization’s president. “Participants planning to
attend should know that space is limited and that we will register players on a
first-come/first-served basis. Registration forms are being sent out in The
Gazette and are available online via our Important UPdates weblink at www.gbfa.org.”
GBFA’s Eleventh Annual Solo &
Ensemble Day offers an opportunity for participants at any
level to perform for a jury. “It’s different from a competition since everyone
is a winner at their own level,” explained Ms. Watson. Solo performances are limited
to 10 minutes, flute choirs and other ensembles to 15 minutes. Performers or
performing groups receive Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Honorable Mention
Certificates. Judges are established professionals from the
GBFA
also announced that it will grant free membership for the rest of its ’04-‘05
season for all performers who participate in Solo & Ensemble Day. (GBFA
memberships expire on 8/31/05.) S&E Day
participants will get free admission to the remaining regular Member Events of
the season (excluding Performance Fees and Special Events). The organization is
also providing free copies of the last two Gazette issues to S&E Day
participants. GBFA’s Team UP & Show
UP program tries to match those who need a ride to this event with other
members in their area.
